A Side of Silver Elvis That You Have Probably Never Seen Before

The Zoomer Show was held last week at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto. We shot Silver Elvis at the show last year, and blogged about the experience here. This year we were invited back and although we were happy to shoot the standard photos of Silver E and the classic cars that were on show, we thought we’d try something new. So we packed up the lights and cameras and followed Silver Elvis into the bathroom. Some strange looks and comments from the men already IN the bathroom followed, but we were able to catch the true essence – ahem – of Silver E.  The composite above is the result.

Toronto’s Scotiabank BuskerFest 2010

This past weekend we covered the 11th Annual Scotiabank BuskerFest in support of Epilepsy Toronto.  After shooting the festival for the past six years we have met some great people and have made some good friends.  The people who work behind the scenes for BuskerFest, as well as all of the performers out on the pitches put a great deal of effort into raising money for those who live with Epilepsy and we would like to offer them recognition here for their work, their talent, and the awareness that they bring – each in their own way – to this cause.

New Project with Toronto’s Silver Elvis

This morning we met with Toronto’s Silver Elvis.  An exciting new project could be in the works and we hope to have more details on that to share with you soon.

We collaborated with ‘Silver E’ a few times last year and always had a good time shooting and hanging out with him. Take for instance, the afternoon after the above photo was taken. We were leaving the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place – with Silver E still in full costume – while across the street at the newly renovated Automotive Building Toronto’s better-heeled were arriving for a $10,000 a plate hospital charity dinner,  an event for which the organizers had ‘rented’ what appeared to be two large Indian elephants to great the gala-goers.

So as they arrived through the Princes’ Gates in their very fancy cars, attendees were met not only with two mammoth Pachyderms wearing red satin hats, but also with a mirror-suited man painted entirely silver (who quite resembled Elvis) happily on his way back to his minivan.

We kinda wished we still had at least one of our cameras out to capture some of the wild expressions that we saw behind the windows of those very fancy cars.

Some days our job is too fun.
