Several weeks ago we spent some time shooting in another one of the large scale business spaces that lighting company Salex provided the lighting for. The concept here was clouds of light with very large circular installations spread throughout the office area.
Office lighting sure has come a long way since the days (and nights) that we spent working in an office.
We had the opportunity to photograph the Aga Khan Museum and the accompanying Ismaili Centre a few weeks ago. The care that went into choosing the design and finishes was evident everywhere. This is a place that you should definitely visit and see for yourself if you get the chance.
One early morning in July we spent a few hours photographing the interior of the newly renovated Holt Renfrew store at Yorkdale Mall. Our objective with this shoot was to capture the lighting and the way it illuminated and complimented the merchandise in various departments.
Although we were surrounded by a plentiful selection of this season’s top fashions and timeless classics from a variety of designers we decided not to take the opportunity to browse – or look TOO closely – at the pieces on offer. That was probably a good choice, as the temptation to do a bit of shopping while we were there might have just been too much.
At the end of May a new library opened in the neighbourhood of Bathurst and Front St. at Fort York Blvd. This new branch not only lends out books, DVDs and other material, but also includes a computer lab and multi-media rooms within which programs and classes are held. It is very modern and is a central spot for the residents of the newly named “Library District” to gather and learn.
The lighting is another key point, especially the strip of light under the massive staircase that leads to the second floor. We shot the library for Salex, one of our clients and the company responsible for designing the ‘look’ of the lighting and choosing the fixtures to achieve this look. The library itself it airy and bright, the lighting matches this perfectly.
See for yourself – above.
Over the past few weeks we have been working on an ongoing project with Salex Lighting, a lighting company that provides lighting solutions to many of the cities new and existing architectural projects – some of which you might recognize in the photos above. The right lighting can add so much to the aesthetics of any landscape or architectural project and as photographers – who are always looking for ways to use light to manipulate the way a subject is portrayed – we’ve found it a new and interesting experience to have stepped back a bit to focus simply on the light itself.
