A Few Photos From ScotiaBank Toronto BuskerFest 2011

For the past 7 years we have spent the last weekend of August shooting the Toronto Buskerfest, sponsored by ScotiaBank. This year the festival seemed bigger than ever with crowds of spectators and over 100 performers out on the pitches giving their best in support of Epilepsy Toronto.

In additional to the usual shots of the performers in action, we also set up a make-shift studio in the performer’s greenroom hoping to capture something unique from each performer and give recognition to all of the crew members who put so much of their time and effort into making this festival the largest of it’s kind in North America. Above are a few shots from the street and the studio, more will follow in the days to come as we sort through the thousands of shots the weekend provided.

For those of you who missed our portrait series from last year you can see it here. And once again, our thanks to everyone who stood before our cameras, you allowed us to give a collective face to a festival.

Amazing shots!! I never knew about this before our office supported ALS last year i think because I learned about this now we will support Epilepsy this year. great work on this!

  35. Wow, fantastic shots…. that looks like my kind of event! 😀 I particularly love the nighttime silhouettes; wish I could get a closer look at those stilt-walkers’ costumes, they look wicked!

    • Thank you! Yes it is a fantastic event with incredible performers. I will send you an email with a closer (brighter) shot of the stilt-walkers costumes. The act is called ‘close acts’ and they are actually giant ants… (bugs)! Last year they were dinosaurs… or if you ask the guys in the act, they were giant atomic chickens! Either way, they were awesome…

  36. How brilliant. The two guys head to head was amazing. Thanks for the shots.

  37. Cool pics and looks like a fun time! Congrats on being FP!

  38. Toronto looks like a sexy place to be!

  39. Wow, you took some amazing photos! My fave is the man in the fuzzy pants, cartwheeling through the air. I live close enough to visit Toronto but I had never heard of Buskerfest before- I’ll have to check it out next year.

  40. This sounds so cool. Now I really want to go. Great pics!

    • By all means, please come next year and I’m sure it will be even bigger – it is a massive 4 day event and the performers are always at the top of their game. Would be great to have everyone in the city aware and there… tell everyone you know! 🙂

This makes me want to leave USA to go live in Canada! This shows how Canada is not all about moose and bacon. Great pictures and amazing quality!

    • Haha! Yes, you’re absolutely right we aren’t all about moose and bacon – although the festival takes place right by the St. Lawrence Market which is famous for it’s peameal bacon sandwiches! Thank you for writing – your comment is awesome! 🙂

  42. wow, nice pictures thanks for sharing with us I loved the dark backgound studio pictures
